Greeting Cannabis Law Reform Community

Marijuana legalization demonstrations are planned across Canada for Friday, April 20th.

The number 420 has become symbolic to cannabis consumers all over the world. April 20th, aka 4/20, has become one of the most important holidays on the marijuana law reformer’s calendar.

On this day, across Canada, from Vancouver to Halifax, gatherings to protest marijuana prohibition will be occurring. NORML Canada would like to remind you that once a year, on this day, the act of publicly smoking marijuana is more than just a choice, it is a political gesture in protest of prohibition.

Now, more than ever, the need to call attention to the harms of this failed policy is vital.

Our current Prime Minister passing tougher laws against several cannabis offences makes this act of civil disobedience an important expression of our growing dissatisfaction with their direction in regards to cannabis.

We salute these brave law-defying individuals who draw attention to the failures of prohibition and take this opportunity call on our leaders to consider alternatives to criminal sanctions as a tool for controlling problematic cannabis use.
